Dear Church,
Session met via ZOOM on Tuesday with humble and grateful hearts for the ministry of First Presbyterian Church – nurturing one another, giving generously to the continued work of the church, and seeking the welfare of the community. All that is happening in the world does not change, even for a moment, the mission and work of the church. We just have to get creative in how some of it gets done these days! Stay tuned next week in the e-blast for Session Minutes, May Birthdays, and other monthly essential info!

In the meantime, there is always work to do! Here are some ways you can be Christ’s hands and feet (if you need some inspiration):

  • Donate blood. If you are healthy and able, sign up for a blood drive (don’t just show up!). You can find the latest details HERE.
  • Make fabric masks. The local fire stations are collecting masks that will be distributed to senior homes, homeless shelters and local congregate living facilities. Make one for yourself, your family members, your neighbors, your community, or donate to the fire stations. Click HERE for an online YouTube tutorial, but there are lots more out there.
  • Support local businesses. Tired of cooking? Order from some of our fabulous local restaurants and businesses trying to keep their doors open. HERE is an interactive map with details.
  • Write five letters and make five phone calls to your church family. Need to know who to call or write? Call/email me and I’ll let you know!
Most importantly, however, I hope all of you are joining me in the charge to pray without ceasing – for medical experts and community/country leaders, essential workers and people without work, refugee communities with no refuge and people without a place to call home or find safety, and everything in between. Grow your hearts a little each day by praying for something difficult for you to hold in prayer, and God will meet us there.
Peace be yours,
Pastor Lindsay
