We have made it to August! It seems to me that each turn of the month these days should give us reason to celebrate – looking back at what we have accomplished in spite of ourselves, and a global pandemic. We can celebrate the choices we made this past month to be loving and compassionate and kind to our neighbors and ourselves through Compassion Camp. We can celebrate that all is in order for our new renters upstairs (Connections Ministry) and for our renters downstairs (Rural Aids Action Network) to begin their good work upon move-in. We can celebrate that the holes are patched in our sanctuary ceiling (again) and the previous places where leaks have caused trouble are no more. We can celebrate an organ installed and soon to be commissioned. In a strange and difficult season, it seems to me that finding reasons to celebrate is what keeps us helpful, hopeful, and looking ahead to where God is calling us to love and serve and be in the month upon us now.
So, welcome August, dear ones! As summer is in it’s last hoorah and these beautiful days are greeting us, I hope you are soaking in the sunshine that still feels warm. As you read this note, I am finishing up my work week and packing my bags for several days of much needed vacation. I trust you will keep me in your prayers as I read and rest and recharge so I can return to the grand adventure and privilege of pastoring First Presbyterian Church. I am also leaving you in the hands of some GREAT preachers and people while I’m gone, and I am thrilled to share the virtual pulpit with my dear friend Rev. Dr. Dray Bland this Sunday, and with Minnesota treasure Al Batt next Sunday. Read more about these fine folks in the August Communicator! So, until I return, be good to each other, will ya? and know that the fabulous FPC staff is still working hard and is here for you as you find need.
Peace be yours, Pastor Lindsay

BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, & IMPORTANT LIFE EVENTS Part of the work of the church is to love and support one another through the stuff of life – good, bad, and otherwise. One of the ways we have been able to do this for one another this season is by celebrating the happy stuff on Facebook! If you’ve got something to share and celebrate with the church, email Bailey so she can spur on the celebration: firstname.lastname@example.org
DON’T FORGET TO GIVE! The work of the church continues during this time – and a virus cannot even stop us! Make sure you are mailing in your pledge, in gratitude for all we have and all we are, by God’s grace. Online donations are easy and secure, and special gifts are ALWAYS welcome – it’s how we continue to love and serve our people and neighbors in need, maintain our building, appreciate our staff, and more.
COVID-19 PROTOCOL All businesses (including churches) are required to have a protocol for this strange season of COVID-19. With a big thanks to Lynnette, we have a working protocol, and it can be viewed HERE. Note, committees can now meet in the church, but there are some rules and regulations we must follow to keep everyone safe. Click HERE for the guidelines. Call the church office with any questions or to set up a meeting. Most importantly, be kind, be well, and be safe.
