Dear Church,

It’s good to be back after an unexpected and unwanted week’s leave. Thanks to all of you for the TLC, and to the Session and staff for giving me space to grieve and heal. I am grateful for a church and staff that cares for me as deeply as I care for each and every one of you.

This week is no exception to the statement I made at the beginning of the pandemic – the work of the church continues and is more important than ever. Thanks to all of you who have done your part to help our church clean out and clean up for our new tenants. We’re meeting with them and contractors in a few days to finalize improvement plans upstairs so the work can begin on their end to ready the space for guests. Keep them in prayer as they transition!

Also, another word of thanks… Thanks to all of you who are paying attention to the place where love and justice meets as you read, study, learn, protest and grow in your own humanity as the movement that started in Minneapolis continues. The Church Library is working on resources, Mary Topp compiled a list from Bukata Hayes’ First Friday presentation last week (available HERE), and I’m ALWAYS delighted to talk with any of you figuring out what your response is to love and care and raise your voice for our black community members and friends and neighbors.

Finally, the Worship Committee and I had planned and hoped toward a Blessing of the Animals this summer. Thanks to a pandemic, we cannot be together, but the argument can be made that our pets and all God’s creatures are more important than ever – the constant reminder that we are still all in this life together. So, gather your beloved creatures, or take a seat by a window to catch the birds and squirrels as you tune in on Sunday! Click HERE for a PDF of the blessing so you can bless the creatures in your life!

Stay tuned for more information following the Session meeting next week, and check the announcements out below. There are so many ways to continue to DO CHURCH in the world, so join in where the Spirit is moving you!

Peace be yours,
Pastor Lindsay

COMMUNION WITH BAILEY & FRIENDS!
We thought this Blessing of the Animals Sunday would be a fun one to learn about communion with Bailey & Friends! SO, join us after the Service of Blessing with your crackers and juice for an extra special (and fun kid-friendly!) sacrament of communion.

PASTORAL CARE NOTE
Donna Mae Matuska died last weekend. Obituary and funeral arrangements are HERE. We grieve with all who loved her and cling fast to the words of Jesus who is the resurrection and the life, assuring us that he went before to prepare a place for her, and for all of us.

FLOWER FUND
Church flowers are not being purchased at this time as they normally were. However, our friends at Becky’s Floral are willing to deliver Sunday flowers for us again to some of our beloved that are isolated these days. If you would like to contribute to the flower fund, please make your check out to the church and include “flower fund” in the memo (or in the memo line in your online giving). Bouquet + delivery is $30.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL IS ON ZOOM
Join us throughout the summer! This is a great time to try out Adult Sunday School! We can’t wait to see you Sunday mornings at 8:30! Register in advance for the Sunday School ZOOM meeting HERE. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
