Dear Church,
We are ONE WEEK away from Compassion Camp! Instead of a run-of-the-mill VBS, we are all doing a camp-style worship for the months of July and August! We will be loving and learning and growing compassion for ourselves, our neighbors, strangers, family, and the whole wide world. I hope you are excited! The e-blast each week of Compassion Camp will focus on the areas of compassion we will address in worship, and we will challenge each of you to take part in the acts of compassion as you are ready, willing, and able.

In the meantime, the work of the church continues! Here’s a quick list to add to your prayer list:

  • We are grateful for the members of our property team who are repairing a hole in our sanctuary ceiling from a busted heat pump, painting and polishing and prepping areas of the church we are leasing to ministries, working on bids to make sure our roof is secure for many years to come, and more!
  • We are excited for all the new members and visitors discovering and jumping into the life and ministry of First Presbyterian Church. We are praying for them as they learn and join our church in this strange season, and we thank God for the opportunity to share hearts and lives together.
  • We are mindful and prayerful of all of our beloved church and friends who are isolated between COVID-19 testing and because of circumstance. We lean on God to help us find ways to love and connect as we navigate this season together.
Pray on, dear church, and I can’t wait to see you on Sunday!

Peace be yours,
Pastor Lindsay

Porter Wade Hagemeister, son of Gretchen & David, and grandson of Mark & Rhonda Taylor, was born on Monday this week at 3 lbs. 1 oz. in the NICU in Fargo, ND. He had assistance with breathing to start but is now off of his breathing tube. He has more tests pending, but arrived safely! Welcome Porter! Please keep him and his family in your prayers along with Dena Fischer who is at Pathstone for short term care.

The candidate we were welcoming for church accountant is no longer viable, so we’re back to searching to fill this position, and we need your help! Spread the word among friends and colleagues – we’re a connectional church in a connectional world, and we know the right person for this important position is out there. A job description can be found HERE and applicants can email their cover letter and resume to Pastor Lindsay,

The work of the church continues during this time – and a virus cannot even stop us! Make sure you are mailing in your pledge, in gratitude for all we have and all we are, by God’s grace. Online donations are easy and secure, and special gifts are ALWAYS welcome – it’s how we continue to love and serve our people and neighbors in need, maintain our building, appreciate our staff, and more.

All businesses (including churches) are required to have a protocol for this strange season of COVID-19. With a big thanks to Lynnette, we have a working protocol, and it can be viewed HERE. Note, committees can meet in the church as necessary starting July 1, but these are some rules and regulations we must follow to keep everyone safe. Click HERE for the guidelines. Call the church office with any questions or to set up a meeting. Most importantly, be kind, be well, and be safe.

The Presbyterian Church USA meets every other year for a big meeting to do church business all together. In that meeting overtures are passed and policies made. Click HERE to learn about the Presbyterian process for how we are becoming who God made us to be. And click HERE to see the news about the newly elected leadership for the next two years. Pastor Lindsay will share some more about PCUSA business passed and implemented this year as the information is released. Reach out with any questions or to learn more!

Join us throughout the summer! This is a great time to try out Adult Sunday School! We can’t wait to see you Sunday mornings at 8:30! Register in advance for the Sunday School ZOOM meeting HERE. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The Mankato Free Press covered the Juneteenth Celebration hosted by the Greater Mankato Diversity Council, and FPC was grateful to be a part of the story, as our First Fridays event at the beginning of June was all about Juneteenth with our friend Bukata Hayes. Check out the story
