Dear Church,
As you are reading this, the staff is working on a Pentecost service that is coming to you LIVE this Sunday! Pentecost has long been celebrated as the birth of the Church. In a way, Pentecost this year is like a re-birth of First Presbyterian Church, as the next day is June 1, which is the beginning of our contract with Connections Ministry. I hope you take some time with me this weekend to pray for this next chapter in ministry for First Presbyterian Church.

I am also taking extra time this week to be grateful for the generosity of this congregation. Because of the generosity and thoughtfulness of church members, staff had bagels from Tandem Bagels waiting for them this morning as they arrived to prepare worship for you. Because of the generosity of members past (establishing a healthy endowment fund) and present, a new organ is about to be installed in the church – completely paid for! Because of the grit and determination of church leadership and staff, our building is getting cleaned and reorganized – we are working hard to be ready when it is safe to worship and serve all together again. Because of your patience, love for one another, and insistence that all are welcome at First Presbyterian Church, we are continuing to love and serve in creative ways outside of our church building – worshiping online, loving from a distance, and keeping our community healthy. For all of this, and for the privilege of being your pastor in such time as this, I am grateful.

So I charge you as you go into this weekend to pray for how God will lay on your heart reason to celebrate and respond in gratitude for the life – the GIFT – that has been given to you on this weekend, the birthday of the Church.

Peace be yours,
Pastor Lindsay
