Maybe that’s the key to keep us going for the long haul. Paul said it himself to an anxious church in Philippi – to do everything “in prayer and supplications with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s be real, it’s been a long week, but our work has never changed. Join me on Sunday and we’ll remember with thanksgiving the call of God on all of our hearts today, tomorrow, and until the kin-dom of God is realized. In the meantime, share some thanksgiving with those spreading goodness and kindness and gentleness these days. And I’m willing to bet, that includes thanksgiving for YOU too!
Peace be yours,
PLEASE NOTE…the Church Office will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 6.
SHARE AN ORNAMENT WITH US!
We are celebrating the holiday season creatively this year with an FPC Community Christmas tree in our sanctuary. Help us decorate by loaning an ornament from your family! Mail in or drop off an ornament (labeled with your name please!) at the church any time during regular office hours in November, and it will be featured on our tree. Email Bailey with any questions, firstname.lastname@example.org
VIRTUAL ADVENT CELEBRATIONS
Beginning next week, stop by the church office any time during office hours to pick up a miniature “create-your-own” Advent wreath (candles included!) so you can light your own candles at home as we light them during our Advent worship services. We will also host an Advent Coffee Hour over ZOOM on November 29 at 11:30 am. Watch your email for more details, or email Bailey with any questions.
FIRST FRIDAYS TOMORROW AT NOON
Join us for a free presentation over ZOOM from climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, who will be discussing the effects of climate change on Minnesota. Click HERE at noon tomorrow, November 6, to join in!
BEWARE OF SCAMMERS THIS SEASON!
Some of you have reported getting emails or texts from someone claiming to be Pastor Lindsay asking for confidential purchasing – usually of ebay gift cards. THIS IS A SCAM! There are a lot of them out there right now, and there are lots of ways to learn how to protect yourself. MNRAAA is a great organization that has some fraud prevention webinars. If you are interested, you can find out more HERE.
CONNECTIONS MINISTRY – A Walk in Their Shoes
Connections Ministry is hosting “A Walk in Their Shoes” on Saturday, November 7 starting at 10 am. Brave the chilly November weather like those experiencing homelessness, and learn about the places and programs they frequent in downtown Mankato. The walk begins here at FPC and includes stops at Centenary United Methodist Church where Holy Grounds breakfast ministry happens, the Blue Earth County Library, and the Salvation Army. Educational speakers will be at each location, and snacks and beverages will be provided.
