Dear Church,
Well that was a quick fall! As snow threatens and comes at us full-force, we are preparing for all the things that bring this calendar year to a close, and the church year to a new beginning! Advent begins at the end of November, and that signifies the start of a new church year, and there is so much to do before then! Check out the November newsletter – which will be out before you know it – and jump into ministry with us!

We are wrapping up our series this weekend of “Jesus for President,” and we have one more opportunity for you to join me in a talk-back following the service (see below for how to join in).

Also an important reminder, YOU’VE GOT ONE WEEK LEFT TO SEND IN YOUR SAINTS! November 1 is All Saints’ Sunday, and we will be naming those we have loved and lost this year. Please email me, with the name of your loved one and we will gather the saints at the beginning of the service.

Check out the information below for important announcements and other news in the life of First Presbyterian Church, and take good care as the weekend rolls in!

Peace be yours,
Pastor Lindsay

Some of you have reported getting emails or texts from someone claiming to be Pastor Lindsay asking for confidential purchasing – usually of ebay gift cards. THIS IS A SCAM! Please know Pastor Lindsay would NEVER solicit something like that from you, or do anything without appropriate Session or committee approval. PLEASE double-check emails that claim to be from Pastor Lindsay, and if you have any doubt at all, call the church office or Pastor Lindsay directly. Stay tuned for learning opportunities from community partners to avoid being scammed this holiday season.

Sheree Palm continues to recover from foot surgery and was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer. While keeping her in your prayers, meal delivery would also be appreciated. You can sign up HERE to help out and volunteer to bring them (she and George and Logan) a meal. Also, please keep Derek Fette’s dad, Merlin Fette, in your prayers following a recent hospitalization. He is now headed to rehab for further treatment and recovery. CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to Nick & Kayla Peterson who welcomed baby Hazel Rae on October 20th!

Many of you have seen people sporting “Church Merch” recently and wanted to take part! You can personalize and order shirts, hats, masks, and mugs whenever you want HERE. Contact Bailey with any questions,
Remember to join us each Sunday at for worship at 10 am! If you are unable to watch live, you can always access recordings of all of the above at

JESUS FOR PRESIDENT – Sermon Talk-back with Pastor Lindsay
During the month of October, we are taking time to acknowledge the political nature of the life and witness of Jesus, and what that tells us as people responding faithfully in the world now. Join Pastor Lindsay in wondering, if Jesus were running for president, what’s his platform? What is closest to the heart of God, and how does that shape us as faithful people in the politics, love, and justice of our days? This Sunday after worship, Pastor Lindsay will host her final “talk-back” for those who would like to ask questions and dig deeper at 11 am via ZOOM.

Sign up for the Kato Towns Compassionate Community research project! This will only take up about an hour of your time to talk to a researcher about how you practice resilience, what you do when something hard happens in your life, and where you turn for support. This important research is part of a bigger initiative and FPC is so proud to be a community partner. Please sign up for this last research opportunity on Sunday, November 1 at 3:30 pm. Email or call 507-389-1725 to take part. Click HERE for more information about the project, and thanks for considering!
